Field Mechanic
Wage: $32- $36 per hour
Full-time position: 45 hours per week
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Reports to Lead Mechanic
PSC Construction is seeking a full-time Field Mechanic to perform diagnostics, repairs, and modifications on mechanical equipment including diesel pickup trucks, hydro vac trucks, heavy construction equipment, semi-truck and trailers. This position will maintain all company vehicles and equipment for PSC Construction, Precision Surveying & Consulting, and National Hydro Excavation Services.
Job Description:
- Load and unload heavy equipment
- Safe and on-time delivery of equipment to customers on job sites
- Operate tractor/trailer units
- Order permits
- Manage equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Operate side dump, flatbed, and end dump trailers
- Effectively use time management and goal-setting
Essential Functions
- Capability to utilize a computer for spreadsheets, database software, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to calculate figures, practical problem solving, and write reports
- Capable of lifting and carrying 50 pounds
- Ability to perform physical labor (i.e., strenuous walking, lifting catch basin grates/manhole covers, hauling equipment)
- Physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing excavations, trenches, structures, and other disturbed areas
- Work in wet or humid environments, outdoor and indoor conditions
- Work near moving mechanical parts
- Capacity to manage
Job Description
- Inspect and repair diesel engines including semis, pick-up trucks, hydro vac trucks, and heavy construction equipment.
- Handle routine repairs, including oil and tire changes
- Order parts, stock fluids, and other materials
- Aptitude to use hand tools, precision measuring of instruments, and machine tools
- Skill in computer diagnostics and electronic troubleshooting
- Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans with an estimated cost
- Maintain fleet vehicle reports
- Yard maintenance
- Shop and office maintenance as needed
- Inspect all vehicles and equipment every week
Job Description
Mandatory background and drug Screening
- Must have 3 years of verifiable experience in heavy-duty trucking industry or similar field
- Satisfactory MVR
- Ability to pass post-offer physical
- Must bring your hand tools
- Truck and equipment safety
- Good communication and customer relation skills
